![]() By 1960, Carlson was in complete control of Gavril's "Automotive Performace Branch". ![]() Shortly after Carlson's departure from Bruckell, Gavril was quick to reach out to a man with such engineering talent, and he was hired on the spot. Carlson's career with Bruckell ended rather quickly, after he was reassigned from chief of research and development of Bruckell's performance branch, to chief of interior design (to this day, nobody really knows why Bruckell did this). During his limited time with Gavril's rival, Bruckell, he helped design and perfect the famous 423ci "Max-Power" V8, one of the most well known engines in the world of hot rodding. Carlson was an experienced man in the field of performance engineering. The model S began development in late 1959, under the supervision of James S. The Blue Jay itself did not differentiate much from the production model, however the S model (which would later be changed to the famous name, Roadsport) was quite a bit different. The year is 1961, and Gavril is unveiling their newest addition to the Gavril fleet, the Blue Jay (later renamed to Bluebuck in August, 1962).
